Tracking each workout with ease and delight

Objective

Make a workout experience that’s beautiful and extremely easy to use. Make sure there’s no fluff or overhead that most apps integrate, and allow the user to input their workouts with the least amount of taps as possible.

Requirements

The functionality needed to include simply creating custom sets and reps for a specific workout. There needed to be a way to see progress at a glance for each workout and the top performing per month. We also needed a way for a user to quickly see their history and the last sets they completed on a workout so they know where to pick up again.

Exploration

There were a number of ideas we explored, specifically with regard to inputting workout data. Instead of throwing up a keyboard with normal number fields, we displayed incremental icons and a floating bar at the bottom to easily increment by 5’s and 10’s.

Solution

The final solution came together nicely. By displaying cards on the dashboard, with the latest workout, we allowed the user get a snapshot of how well they were doing. The large “Log” button at the bottom gives the user a quick way to jump right into their next workout.

Summary

Overall,  the health and wellness space on the App Store is pretty saturated and an app like this would need a large amount of marketing push behind it to go anywhere. It currently sits in the App Store, waiting for someone to fund the endeavor.
