Grams

The macros-tracking app you’d want to use

Objective

Provide a simple, intuitive, and beautiful native app to monitor and manage macronutrient intake. Current apps on the market are bloated and over-designed in a way that makes it difficult to use.

Requirements

Track days and allow users to jump anywhere in the past; focus on protein, fats, carbs, and a total calorie count without all the fluff that other apps display; ability to add custom foods, discover/search new foods, and save favorite foods; and place all of this on the home screen for easy access.

Exploration

We explored a number of different layouts and styles, finally resulting in a design that stands out against the many competitors in the App Store and fulfilling the requirements.

Solution

The final design was chosen because it was unique from its competitors in the App Store and fulfilled all of the requirements. The home screen focused on the day’s macros and calories, while displaying a list of the foods eaten, and an easy way to add and search foods.
